Obituary of Annie Pearl Davis

Annie P. Davis made the transition from labor to reward at South Nassau Community Hospital on June 8th, 2017 at 3:10 pm. She was born on November 17, 1938 to the late Vonnie and Rebecca Young Roberson. She was preceded in death by: her husband Samuel Davis, one sister Louella Swan and four brothers Charlie Lewis, Willie Lewis, Vonnie Jr. and MacArthur Roberson. She graduated from Wheeler County High School in Georgia in 1957. She attended Savannah State College for two years then left to take care of her ailing grandmother in Boston, Massachusetts. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York where she met her husband at the World's Fair. She was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Services for 43 years working at Morgan Registry. She retired in December of 1999 to her favorite job as a full time Grandma. At an early age, she joined the Macedonia Church in Mount Vernon, Georgia. After moving to Brooklyn she became a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Samuel Austin and later Reverend Clinton M. Miller. Ann was a devoted Christian to whom Jesus Christ was the head of her life and attended church faithfully until she became ill. Ann was quiet and humble carrying a warm smile with a big heart. She was very passionate about helping family and friends. She instilled in both her daughter and granddaughter the values of keeping God first, charity, loving yourself, treating others with respect, studying hard, working hard, being able to stand on your own two feet and to "spend your money wisely". For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required. She was a diligent member of the Eastern Star Organization. Her main hobbies were shopping, gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking, traveling and making sure her grandbaby made it to usher school and her usher obligations at Brown Memorial Baptist Church and later Second Baptist Church of Baldwin, N.Y. She also always enjoyed watching her favorite TV stations, QVC, HSN and the Word Network. She leaves to cherish her memories with the greatest of love, one daughter Dr. Sandra Ann Davis and her beloved granddaughter Amirah Bean of Baldwin, NY. Four brothers, Sinclair (Mary) of Atlanta, Georgia, Joe Louis (Floseline) of Glenwood, Georgia, John Wesley (Amanda) of Culpeper Virginia, and Nathaniel (Nellie) of Brooklyn, N.Y. Four sisters Lois R. Byrd and Loubertha Roberson of Mount Vernon Georgia, Betty L. (Roy) Byrd and Zellena Roberson of Glenwood, Georgia. Two brother in laws Horace Davis (Wendy) of Charleston South Carolina and James Davis of Bronx N.Y. Three sister- in -laws Mary Baker Roberson of Mount Vernon, Georgia, Sandra Roberson of Atlanta, Georgia and Tamars Roberson of Lumber City, Georgia, and one Aunt Donna Roberson of Mount Vernon Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, relative and friends.
