Herbert Philip Dempsey Obituary

Herbert Phillip Dempsey, also know as “Herbie” born June 11, 1947 to Carmen Santos and Herbert Dempsey. A man who loved to travel, dress flashy and at times considered an eccentric thinker based on his colorful conversations. At times one did not know what direction the conversation was going, but he was charismatic enough that you would just sit and listen. People would consider his overzealous attitude as crazy, but to Herbie it was the way he saw the world.

One day you would call him; he is in California. The next time, you would find out that he enlisted into U.S. Navy working as a mechanic on fighter jets. He had a mind full with information and a wealth of knowledge. One could not put a finger on Herbie and he liked it that way.

He spent much of his adult life in Cleveland, Ohio without care in the world with a free spirited attitude reading religious books and smoking pipes which he loved. In his later years, he spent his time watching old westerns and reading his bible as he often boasted about reading the entire encyclopedia.

Herbie said, that if his life was different, that he would have loved to become a pastor and share God’s word. Also, if he got the chance; he would enjoy his beloved Kentucky Fried Chicken five piece chicken meal with a three legs and two thighs a side of coleslaw, mash potatoes with gravy, corn, two biscuits with a cold root beer.

After his meal, he would leave you with something to think about like; “Always have a happy heart or a merry happy heart is good as any kind of good medicine or medication .”

Herbie transitioned into the hands of the Lord on August 18, 2024. He leaves behind a brother; Miguel Muñoz, an aunt Josephine Torres, sister Lein Torres, Terry Dixon, Curtis Dixon, Amari Morency, Ciel Dixon, sister-in-law Suzanne Muñoz, nieces Destiny Howell, Daelyn Blanchard and Neriah Muñoz. As well as a list of friends and caretakers over the years.

If there was anything to take away from Herbie; is that in life, be happy, live without regret, free your mind, have faith in a higher power and eat well.
