Cecil E. Stapleton Obituary

Cecil Stapleton, a dedicated professional and beloved family man, passed away on July 31, 2024. Born on October 12, 1945, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Cecil's journey through life was marked by hard work, determination, and a deep love for his family.

As a teenager, Cecil left his homeland for Guyana, where he worked as a police officer. He often reminisced about his time spent on the sea wall and learning to hunt in the interior. In his early twenties, Cecil immigrated to the United States, where he initially worked at the United Nations while pursuing a professional degree. His true passion lay in the medical field, leading him to a career in nuclear medicine at a hospital in Manhattan.

Fate intervened one evening when Cecil met Audrey, a beautiful young nurse who had also migrated from Guyana. Their meeting sparked a love that blossomed into a marriage lasting 53 years. Together, Cecil and Audrey raised two children, Kurt and Natasha, while continuing their education and building their careers.

Cecil's dedication to learning was evident as he earned two master's degrees, often stating that he could "go to school forever." His career culminated in roles as a Hospital Administrator of Radiology Departments at Victory Memorial Hospital, Bronx Lebanon Hospital, and the VA Hospital in Manhattan, where he retired in 2017.

Family was at the heart of Cecil's life. He instilled in his children the importance of education, hard work, and living a dignified life. His joy was immeasurable when he became a grandfather, proudly sharing stories of his grandsons, Jace and Bryce. Cecil cherished his time spent with them, whether in the park, on vacations to the Caribbean, or during long walks.

Cecil's friends and family will remember his engaging political debates and the laughter shared over memories of the Caribbean. Above all, he will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his stoic personality.

Cecil Stapleton's legacy of dedication, education, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
