Obituary of Willie Green

Willie was born on January 30, 1946 in Plantersville, South Carolina to Sam and Beaulah Ford Green. Willie was the fourth of eight children. He grew up in Brookgreen Gardens and graduated from Howard High School in 1964. Willie enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from high school. Willie relocated to New York after being honorably discharged from the Air Force. He worked various jobs until he was hired by United Parcel Services where he retired after 30 years of service. In 1974 he was introduced to Diana by a mutual friend. Willie and Diana married in 1980 and had two sons Geoffrey who was born in 1981 and Jonathan was born in 1983. Willie re-insisted in the Air Force as a reservist and worked as an aircraft maintenance technician. He achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant. Willie was very proud of having served his country so when he retired from the Air Force he promoted himself to the rank of General. Willie was a great father, husband, friend and neighbor. He liked fishing, gardening, helping people, talking and giving advice. Willie was preceded in death by his father Sam, mother Beaulah, brother Sam and nephew Lawrence Hemingway. He is survived by his wife Diana, sons Geoffrey and Jonathan, brothers Horace, Nathaniel, Levi and Douglas, sisters Minnie Hemingway and Helen Spivey, numerous nieces and nephews.
