Obituary of Nancy Ann Hightower

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Hightower was born on December 15, 1941, in Hinton, West Virginia to the late Winston Smith and Willie Pack-Smith. Nancy attended Summer County Schools where she graduated Salutatorian from Lincoln High School in Hinton, West Virginia.

Sadly, On April 16, 2023, Nancy was called home to rest with her husband of 56 years. the late Memphis Hightower Sr.

Nancy worked for many years at the Doubleday Book and Music Club, Inc. as an administrative clerk.  When Nancy retired, she spent the rest of her days devoted to her family, She was truly the Matriarch, the glue that kept everyone together.

Nancy Hightower had a kind and giving soul. She was loving, caring, respectful, unselfish, dedicated, and a very motivated woman. She loved her husband, children, grandkids, and great grandkids. She loved having a clean home and was very organized. Watching lifetime movies and playing the NYS Lottery was her passion. She played it with such conviction. She also liked the card game, solitaire. Basketball was her thing. She was a big basketball fan. She would get so excited watching the game on TV and would rush us off the phone when we called.  A very smart lady with a sense of humor. She had plenty of knowledge and wisdom to share. She was independent woman and great at raising her children and grandchildren. Nancy had so much patience and a forgiving heart.

Growing up Nancy was a hard-working lady. Always making sure we all had.  She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She would stay up to wee hours of the night making sure everything was perfect for her Children and Grandchildren. She would be up early to see our faces.

Nancy loved cooking and shopping for her family.  There was always food on the stove for anyone who visited.  Nancy hardly ever complained, she always thought of solutions.  She was very helpful to others, without a selfish bone in her body. One of the most difficult times for our family was when her husband, our dad passed away in 2021, but Nancy refused to give up. always put God and us first. She took care of everything and everybody. Nancy was a true believer of God. Loved peaceful quiet times and possessed a wonderful outlook on life and had a big heart for everyone. She loved everyone unconditionally.

She will be deeply missed.

Nancy was preceded in death by her Father Winston Smith , Her Mother Willie Pack-Smith , her Sisters Betty Smith , Thelma Mack, Debra Brown and Mary Smith.
