My dear, dear auntie Marva,
You have being my mommy's (Resna, Ms. Res) treasured friend for as far back as I can remember. When I lost my mommy, you lost your dear friend.....I was shattered, you found the strength, you stepped in and swooped me up from the deepest and darkest place imaginable. You reminded me daily, sometimes hourly of my reasons and purpose to keep going.
You mothered me, you understood me, you counselled me, you corrected me and you nurtured all the good and great qualities in me.
Most unexpectedly, and lovingly you would point out when I remind you of your friend!
I will forever treasure the peace and total assurance you taught me to have in my decisions. You are a tiny stalwart of a woman!! you loved and lived life in a big way!!

Marva, as she is known to me. This is a kind, sweet, always with a ready smile . I remember our long walk chatting about this and that, and at the conclusion of our walk, which ends on the edge of the Main road in Free Town, you would looked at me with that smile and said” why you never sweat, you stay so cool” and we would just laugh. The years and space kept us separated but you were always in my heart. I will miss you terribly, there are no words.

Marva and I are child hood friends who shared the same birth month one day, 1 year apart.. she is a fantastic person who is loving, caring and kind. I will miss our Bus trips to Sites and Sound, our WhatsApp conventions, most of all her beautiful smile and laughter..I will sure miss her presence here on earth. I met you at Basic School in Jamaica and although I immigrated to UK and you to USA our friendship remained in tack with numerous telephone conversations and WhatsApp messages. You have been my longest friend.
You were in London for my wedding and we celebrated our 50th birthday in Italy. It was amazing.
You were looking forward to another European trip as we enjoyed the first two so much, but time did not allow.
I tried to be strong for you when you shared about your illness but the news broke my heart. You were so brave and showed no fear. When I would enquire about your health you would say “Another day above grass”
You were a very kind, caring, thoughtful and loving person, with an amazing sense of humour. We really had some good laugh. I love you with all my heart. My family and I will miss you and will never forget you.
You have fought a good fight, you kept the faith
Rest well my friend until we meet again.
