Alzena, Marilyn, and Robert Thomas posted a condolence

Before she was our aunt, we were introduced to Dolores during our mom's tenure at Mayfair Care Center where the two would eventually become close friends. Before long, she would become an indispensable part of our family. Aunt Dolores would eventually go on to meet Uncle Bud while he was staying at our house, and from that meeting, the trajectory of our lives would be irrevocably changed for the better. The love and the memories which spawned from that moment are things we hold dear. To this day, Alzena recounts stories of the times she had with Dolores, and all of us continue to cherish the warmth and the joy that has been left in our hearts by one Dolores Thomas. Until we meet again <3

A gem is the way I would describe Mrs. Delores Thomas. She was loving, kind, thoughtful and funny. She would tell you what you needed to hear whether you wanted to hear it or not and then end it with a smile and chuckle. The best cook ever! I will definitely miss her stuffing. Sis. Thomas, I will always remember our years together at Free Will B.C. You taught me so much. A true woman of God. Rest in peace...good night. ❤

Q: What will you never forget about Delores?
A: My precious grandmother. A women who exemplified the words selfless, loving, and caring. I will forever hold near and dear the memories of my childhood. Our weekly trips to Red Lobster, you picking me up from school in your big white Grand Marquis, greasing your scalp lol, sitting at the table snapping green beans, and you telling me whenever you would hit the number and trusting that my little self wouldn’t tell a soul.
While I will miss you dearly I am thankful that God has allowed me to experience your loving and nurturing spirit for 24 years. I will forever keep your memory alive and dream of the day that I will be able to show my unborn children pictures of you and tell them about all of the funny moments we shared together.
Take you rest Suga-Foot! You deserve it ❤️

Q: How did you meet Delores?
A: Our days began in 10th grade at Keith High School. Teachers would yell, “Ash, Robinson, go sweep the halls.” We would laugh at our punishment because it was fun for us. We created a bond like I’ve never had and the love has grown from there. Mrs. Thomas, I will miss you, friend. But I will carry your spirit forever. While I can’t call or come see you anymore, I can laugh at our conversations, days in AL, followed by our days in NY. I love you endlessly but you’re forever in my heart. Sleep well, my friend. Until we meet again, your memories live with me forever. ❤️

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Delores?
A: She was loving, caring and always giving to others. Whenever I called her to ask her to make me my favorite German Chocolate cake she would just say “when do you want it”. I never knew how much it took to bake that cake until Lisa told me. Mom always came through for me no matter what it took to make she did it. That’s love in action.

Q: How would you describe Delores to someone who had never met them?
A: My godmother was simply hilarious. She had this wit that was unmatched. She would make you laugh at the most unexpected times and you’d find yourself laughing with her for 10 minutes straight. She was loving and truly a second mom. She would try her hardest to stop me from sucking my thumb as a kid. She used to pour hot sauce on it and laugh when that didn’t work. She was a cook and I mean she could throw down. She didn’t care who she fed. As a matter of fact, she’d offer to make a personal pan or pot for anyone who expressed how good it was. She was loving and giving. You saw God in her. She didn’t talk about people, outside of saying, “She asked me to make her a pan, so I’m gonna drop it off.” This was free or charge! A wife, Christian, mom, grandmother and friend. She was what every person needs and wants, whether they know it or not. I love you, Loisy and wish we had more time. I only wish I can be the godmother you were to my godchildren. You will always be in my heart and I will love you forever. We’ll meet again, and share laughs like old times. Until then, things won’t be the same, but we know God’s plan is better than ours. I’ll miss you because you’re were always #morethanagodmother ❤️

The first time I met Delores, Lisa had invited me to her Mom's backyard barbecue after church. Delores was grilling some delicious food, which included filet mignon ( which I didn't know you could do). Family, that was the best filet mignon I have ever tasted, still to this day.
Much love, xoxoauntie.
RIP xoxo
