Obituary of Alberta Livingston Allman

Like a eagle soaring above the clouds through the universe, Alberta left her imprint on all who came in contact with her and that affectionate smile.

 

“Lord said unto her, well done, thou good and faithful servant: Thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of they Lord”: Matthew 25:21

              

Alberta Cox Livingston Allman age 88, was the last child of thirteenth children, to the late Rev. George Cox and Eva Rowelly Cox of Pearson, Georgia, on September 6, 1934. Her Parents, six brothers, five sisters, one son, one daughter, one grandson, three granddaughters, and her beloved husband preceded her death. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became a member of St. James A.M.E. Church of Pearson Georgia.

 

Alberta received her elementary and high school education at Atkinson County School System. Alberta, married the late Bishop Bernie Livingston and, from that union, they were blessed with Eight beautiful children.

 

In 1963, Alberta, moved to Brooklyn New York with her oldest sister, Juanita, who was a Nurse. Alberta, received her Associate degree from Hunters Teaching College.

 

In 1969, Alberta, moved her family to Roosevelt Long Island and joined Naomi Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, there she met the love of her life and was united in marriage to the late Woody Moses Allman on May 7, 1983. As dedicated worker for the Lord, Alberta, served on the Stewardess Board, Deaconess Board, Choir, Builder Fund, Class Leader, Hospitality Committee, Culinary Staff, Conference Worker, and Pastor Aide.

 

After working nearly 30 years Alberta retired from the Roosevelt Union Free School District as a Teacher Assistant. Alberta also operated a day care center from her home for many years. Her love for children and willingness take care of others was ever present. Her home was safe haven open to anyone in need a place to stay and were able to call it their home before there were a safe  haven in the community of Roosevelt before such place were ever in existence.

 

Alberta, aka Sassy as her grands affectionately call her, was always surrounded by the love of her children, siblings and their families and was committed to helping her family and contributing whenever needed with a bright smile.

 

Beside her love and dedication to her family and church, her other past time enjoyment included dancing, listening to good music, reading, crosswords puzzles, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Steve Harvey, traveling, and cooking, her food brought pleasure to many. Often times you would find her prepare food in the church kitchen for many organizations and different functions going on at the church.

 

After a long battle with Dementia, Alberta departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children; there sons Donald (Lorraine) Livingston of Tampa FL, Vincent (Linda) Livingston of Seattle WS, Lonnie (Sandra) Livingston of Roosevelt, NY, three daughter Eva (Keith) Washington of Roosevelt NY, Minnie Livingston of Hempstead NY, and Tawana Livingston of Roosevelt NY, one brother Ernest Cox of Washington DC, two sister-in-laws Ruth Quarles of Bayshore NY, Lilly Owusu of Columbus OH, eighteen grandchildren, twenty six, great-grands, three great-great-grands and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

 

 

Alberta lived a full and complete life and has gone home to be reunited wish her king who always refer to her as the Queen of Hempstead, of 27 years, her second oldest son, oldest daughter and host of past relatives.
