Obituary of Howard Evans

Please share a memory of Howard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Let us tell you all about the most honorable husband and father in the world, whom everyone loved. Howard Legette Evans Sr. was born May 29th, 1947 in Chesterfield, SC, the third child born to Junious Elijah Evans and Janie Mae Evans. Howard spent his whole childhood in Chesterfield, SC growing up with his siblings Viola, Betty, and Weldon. Also growing up with his favorite cousins Charlie, David, Eddie, and Roosevelt. Howard attended public schools in the Chesterfield County School District, in Chesterfield, SC. Howard loved his family dearly, and always told stories of him hanging with his dad Junious, and brother, Weldon hunting and fishing together. He also told stories of how much he loved his mom’s cooking always reminiscing about her cooking big Sunday dinners where family would come over, be together, and sing gospel songs. In 1971 Howard would meet the love of his life Dora Mae Brown, and they would get married October 14th, 1972, being happily married for 47 years. To this union seven children were born, Dora Lee, Howard Jr, Anthony, Teddy, Christopher, Sharon, and Tyeshia. After their first two children were born, Howard and Dora then relocated to New York where Howard would spend the remainder of his years. In the earlier parts of Howard’s life, he was a Carpenter for many years before moving to New York. While living in New York, Howard worked for the Town of Hempstead for three years, Marino Industries for eleven years, and Coca-Cola Enterprises for 15 years before his health issues caused him to go into early retirement. Howard L Evans Sr was the coolest person on the planet. He was the most hardworking, kindhearted, giving person you could ever know. It is hard to think of a single person who disliked Howard, because he always showed love to everyone. Howard showed how much he loved his family because he was always there. Always dressed sharp even if he was just hanging in the house, or in the car listening to music. His wife, and children never needed anything as Howard was a true provider. At times Howard could be tough as most dads are the disciplinary, but he raised his children right. He raised them to be respectful to their elders and would let them have it if an aunt or uncle visited, and they did not respectfully address them. He raised them to be respectful, kindhearted, and giving people. He loved his grandchildren so much always showering them with gifts, and kisses when he saw them. Howard treated all the kids in the family like they were his kids, and all the kids loved Uncle Howard. He never excluded anyone, always was inviting, always offered to feed everyone, and always offered a place to stay to anyone in need. If anyone needed a ride, he would take them any place that person needed to go. Howard was the epitome of strength, and dignity. He was not the most talkative man, but if you gave him a couple shots of Seagram's Gin, he was the liveliest person in the room. Howard had a smile that could light up a room, and he had a very infectious laugh. He loved sporty cars, and music as not a weekend went by when oldies were not playing on the radio. So, when Howard got sick it was shocking because to his children, he was invincible, and as the years went by the worse, he got. His wife Dora was there to the very end with Howard. She honored her marriage vows to the fullest degree, literally never leaving his side. Howard suffered for a long time, but he is no longer suffering. On June 20th, 2020, Howard entered eternal rest, leaving behind his family, and many friends that cherished him dearly. Loved ones that cleared the path for Howard are his parents Junious Elijah Evans, and Janie Mae Evans.
