Obituary
Obituary of Daniel G Flowers
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Gene Ali Flowers was born January 9, 1991 to Martha J. Flowers. Daniel peacefully traded labor for reward on Saturday, January 2, 2016, surrounded by family.
Daniel, affectionately known as "Fussy", "Danny", "Tina", and "Flowers" to many, was raised in Hempstead, NY. Daniel was born athletically blessed. He executed well in every sport including baseball, basketball, wrestling, and football. Daniel played for Hempstead PAL and Hempstead CYO League and eventually became an exemplary Hempstead TIGER . The family decided to relocate and later move to Freeport, NY. where his love for sports only excelled, becoming a diehard Freeport Red Devil. In his senior year, Daniel received the Freeport Red Devil Coach's Award. His love of football formed an incredible bond with his best friend Kevin Allen (Debow). They were inseparable on and off the field.
He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and you couldn't tell him ANYTHING about Ray Lewis. Daniel was raised in Jackson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Hempstead, NY where he participated in many aspects of the church such as The Junior Usher Board, The Drama Club, and The Lucille Whitehurst Junior Choir where he was a Founding Member of 'Young Holy'. Young Holy is a group of family and friends from the church who formed a strong comradery and SANG FOR JESUS.
Daniel had a special love for the seniors of the church and would often assist ungrudgingly. Daniel had the most "affectious smile", and everyone would always say, "Yeah! That's Flowers".
In growing up, Daniel, his brother and cousins, did EVERYTHING together. They laughed, they argued, they played and they fought, especially "IKE AND TINA". Daniel and Candyce fought like a married couple, hence the names "IKE AND TINA". The funny thing was Daniel was "TINA". Family meant everything to him as he and his first cousins were more like siblings. They have fond memories of their monthly visits to Timothy Lake in The Poconos.
Daniel was preceded in death, by his Uncle James L. Flowers and his Grandparents, John E., Sr. and Martha G. Flowers. He will be leaving to cherish his memories his Mother, Martha J. Flowers and Aunt Gerry J. Flowers (David), along with his brother Aaron E. Flowers additional "siblings" Darell, Kelly, Gerlene and Candyce; Aunts Jane A. Ford (Scott), Mary Flowers-Burke (Earl, Jr.), Uncles Ricky McLean (Althea) and Jon E. Flowers, Jr.(Natasha) ;"Grandma" Mattie Flowers and a host of cousins, Great Aunts, Great Uncles, "Special" Friends: Kevin Allen & LaDonna Carroll and many beloved friends.
Daniel was genuinely LOVED and will be sorely MISSED.
Lovingly submitted, The Family.
