Obituary of Teartis Barker

Teartis Barker lovingly known as “TR”, was the son of the late Davis and Bessie Owens Barker. He was born April 2nd, 1947 in Dunbarton, South Carolina and entered into eternal rest on Thursday February 6th, 2020. In 1959 Teartis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the St. Thomas Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Barnwell, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Butler High School in Barnwell, South Carolina. Upon moving to New York, Teartis joined the Union Baptist Church of Hempstead under the pastorate of the Late Rev. Dr. C.C. Boone and served as a member of the Male Chorus. A8er 3 years of courtship, Teartis married his current wife Barbara Birch August 3rd 1996. Teartis was a Supervising Manager for Autobase, Inc. Tearits also worked as a Client Manager for Doyle Security and Clean America.As TR progressed in life, his one of a kind happy contagious personality became the highlight of all those whom he encountered. He had a great sense of humor. “I’m going to live” was his mo;o and that he did. You knew he was your friend when he said “What! Are you crazy?” Imagine that when he was the one always saying something crazy.He was preceded in death by brothers, William Barker, Arthur Barker, George Barker and James Barker.TR’s legacy will live on as he leaves to cherish in loving memory his wife Barbara Birch-Barker, son Wendell Barker, daughter Nicole Barker, grandson Eddie Wilson,stepdaughter Joanna Birch, and a host of relatives and very close friends.
