PRECIOUS IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD IS THE DEATH OF HIS SAINTS Psalms 116:15 Augusta Lewis Hutcherson the oldest of 7 children was born in Flat Top, Alabama to Georgia Lewis and Tommie Lewis (George Williams) on May 10, 1943. She loved her family dearly. Her mother raised her in the church and taught her about God at an early age. Upon graduating from High School she sought for greater opportunities in life and relocated to New York.. While in New York Augusta worked in housekeeping, received her certificate and worked as a nurse aid. Also attended Molloy College. Augusta later married David Painter Hutcherson the 2nd and decided to devote her time as a home maker by raising her seven children. In January 1972 Sister Hutch gave her life to the Lord and joined Progressive Holiness Church. While at home Mother Hutch demonstrated her love for God by always starting her day with a early morning devotional prayer 3-4am singing her song "Good Morning Jesus I'm coming early to pray, reading her bible, while going to each of her children and anointing them with oil. Augusta always encouraged her children toward loving God, and education. On Yale Street she was considered the neighborhood mom by feeding and watching out for the children and sometimes passing out tracts and visiting the sick. While in Progressive she became the youngest Senior Missionary, taught Sunday School, song with the Senior, Gospel, and General Assembly Choir, and assisted with the building fund dinners. More importantly, Missionary Hutch was a prayer warrior and diligent alter worker. Her love for singing would set the church on fire with the anointing. She was even blessed to write her own songs in which the church still sings today. On August 2018 during her 75th birthday celebration she was installed as a Mother of the Progressive Holiness Church. On March 31, 2019 Mother Augusta Hutcherson transitioned from labor to reward joining her mother –Georgia (Madear) Lewis To be with the Lord ,who preceded her on March 11,2019. Mother Augusta Hutcherson was preceded in death by her husband David P Hutcherson the 2nd.
