Obituary of Henry Lovelace, Jr.
Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On March 15, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, Henry Lovelace Jr. was born from the union of Henry Lovelace Sr. and Dorothy Lovelace (Drayton). As the second oldest, and only son of 7 children, Henry helped his dad raise his younger sisters when his mother past away at a young age.
Henry was introduced to his soul mate and future wife Natalie, by his sister Marie, while attending junior high school. In his youth Henry became interested in mechanics and refined his skills while attending, and later graduating from, Automotive High School. After graduating, Henry enlisted into the Air Force where he was deployed overseas, and earned the rank of Sergeant. After honorably serving his country, Henry returned home to marry the love of his life, Natalie, in 1967. During this time, Henry started a career as a telephone technician at AT&T which lasted 35 years until his retirement.
From the union of Henry and Natalie, 5 children were born: Katiti, Jason, Aaron, Heather and Nena. Henry and Natalie were loving and understanding parents who instilled strength and integrity in their children. With the sudden and unexpected loss of Natalie in 1986, Henry became both mother and father to his young family. He continued to raise his children in a loving and nourishing environment.
Henry was a strong man with a great sense of humor and a fighting spirit; he lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed watching football, playing cards and cooking. Henry's grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was happiest at home relaxing with them. He is predeceased by his wife Natalie, his parents Henry Sr. and Dorothy and his sisters Delores and Virginia. He leaves to cherish his memory: 4 sisters, Helen, Marie, Williemae and Debra and her husband Lloyd; brother-in-law Jack Sr.; 5 children, Katiti and her husband Andre, Jason and his wife Kimberly, Aaron and his wife Jasmine, Heather and Nena; 7 grandchildren, Malik, Jayden, Aaron Jr., Jordan, Amare, Bella and Jiavanna; 3 step-children, Katrina, Earl and Lisa and their mother Iretta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
