Mrs. Gwendolyn Faye Mosley Waters was born on September 24, 1936 in Wilmington, North Carolina to the union of the late Mr. Elijah and Mrs. Bernice Newkirk Mosley. She was called from earthly labor to heavenly reward on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, New York. Gwendolyn was educated in the public schools of New Hanover County, Wilmington, North Carolina. Where she graduated with honors from Williston High School in 1954. After graduation, she relocated to Manhattan, New York where she continued her education attending nursing school, and later Drake Business College. During this time, she also met and married the love of her life, the late William Edward Waters Sr. They were blessed with four loving children. Gwendolyn worked for the City of New York Division of Child Care Services for over forty (40) years. Working with children was not just her profession, but her calling. She had such a love and passion for children, that she returned and continued to work as a consultant, retiring for a second time in January of 2018. Gwendolyn accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age while a member of Gregory Congregational Church in Wilmington NC. She has been a faithful and dedicated member of Bethel AME Church since the early 70's, serving on many ministries and auxiliaries over the years. Including the Floral Ministry and most recently she was serving as President of Stewardess Board Number Two. She loved her family, she loved her friends, she loved her church and church family, she loved her profession, and she loved to travel, but most of all, she loved the Lord! In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William E Waters Jr. her brother, Harold B. Mosley, two sisters, Carolyn L. Marshall, and Deborah M. Davis. She leaves to cherish precious memories, three children: Gregory E. Waters, of Uniondale New York, Ronald E. Waters, of Hempstead, New York, and Sonya Waters of Carle Place, New York; Six grandchildren: Ronald E Waters Jr, Yanique Haynes, Deyon Thompson, Sterling Waters, Rayne Waters and Rayonna Waters; Five great grandchildren: Kahliyah, Kaiden, Yaniyah, Landon and Liam; one sister, Bernice Morris; one sister-in- law, Althia Mosley and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
