Obituary of Michael Anthony Young, Sr.

Michael Anthony Young, Sr. was born on May 15, 1960 in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Rebecca Young and his father Washington Young who is still alive. He departed this life on October 18, 2015 to be with the Lord. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was lovingly known as "Big Mike". Growing up his hobby was boxing,he loved watching basketball and football on t.v and at the parks. In 1982, he met the love of his life Gloria Drew. From their union, four children were born. Three daughters Latrice, Rebecca and Regina Young; One son, Michael A. Young, Jr. all of Hempstead, NY. Michael was a strong, humble and hardworking man who always put his family first. He was very sweet in spirit and always encouraged his children to do good for themselves. He always loved his grandchildren and always hoped for all girls which he got. He loved sending everyone to the store to play his Mega Millions and the Lottery. You could always catch him watching some of his favorite shows like "The Good Times", "The Westerns","Redd Foxx", and "Jerry Springer". His favorite music was R&B and soul.He also liked his two parakeets which were named after him and Gloria. Michael worked at Holly A. Patterson Nursing Home for over 10 years in the Maintenance Department and also worked at the George Watts cleaning service for the MTA bus company. When he retired his grandchildren were his main focus. You could always catch Michael with his grandkids going on a stroll. He helped raise all three of his granddaughters. Michael leaves to cherish his memories; His father Washington Young; Two sisters Josephine Thomas and Nicole Young Perkins; Two brothers Reginald Young and Charlie Young; A wife Gloria Drew; Two daughters Rebecca and Regina Young; One son Michael A Young Jr; Four grandchildren Gabrielle Rivera, Ma'Kayla Young, Lailah Kinard and the late Malaysia Young who preceded him in death. He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Also left to cherish him is his close friend Carol Faulkner.
