Obituary of Ruth V Heyward

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth Heyward (affectionately known as "Wuffie") was born on October 8, 1930 in Freeport New York to Russell and Elizabeth Moore. She departed this life on Saturday March 17, 2018 at the age of 87. On August 20, 1949 she married Robert Heyward. From this Union they were blessed with 9 children whom were her pride and joy. Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age; she was a member of Roosevelt Bible Church on Nassau Road in Roosevelt, New York. Throughout her illness she remained faithful to her God and continued to praise him and give thanks. Ruth worked in various positions for the Freeport Public School District for 25 years. When she retired in 1997 she was working as the Nurses Assistant at Caroline G. Atkinson School. She enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends, but was happiest when she was with her children (who spoiled her rotten) and grandchildren. She loved to cook and enjoyed when family stopped by (she would prepare their favorite meal). Mom also enjoyed taking rides near the beach or waterfronts, looking at pictures of family and friends and watching her youngest grandchildren dance. Ruth was also a big fan of Etta James. She had a giving heart and provided monthly financial support to several Ministries that included Feed the Children, Doctors Without Borders, Life Outreach International and International Agape Mission, Inc. Additionally she provided school supplies, Christmas gifts and financial support to the Niece of an employee at her local 7-11 whom she befriended. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Heyward, Sr., Daughter, Shelly Heyward, Parents Russell and Virginia Moore, Brother, James Moore, and sisters Gladys (Mel) Shine and Delareese (Reese) Moore. She leaves to cherish her memory children Robert Heyward Jr. (Pentoria), Kathleen Lawrence (James), Craig Heyward (Mary), Kelly Sears, Patricia Heyward, Brenda Bolding, Jeffrey Heyward, Darren Heyward (Erica), twenty one grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Sisters Agnes (Jeanne) Moore and Ernestine Colter, Sister in law Delores Moore, a host of Nieces, Nephews, extended family, neighbors and devoted friends.
