Eleanora Hinton Obituary

Eleanora Hinton was born to the late Minnie and Asbury Figgs on September 14, 1926 in Hobbsville NC. On August 18, 2015, Mother Hinton made her transition with her family by her side. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Minnie and Asbury Figgs migrated to New York shortly after Eleanora was born. The first of three children, all girls; Eleanora knew at an early age that she would be working for the Lord. Upon coming to New York the family residence was in the basement of the original Second Baptist Church on Banks Ave., Rockville Centre, NY. At a young age Mother Hinton was very involved in the church, serving on the Baptist Training Unit and the Usher Board under the leadership of Minnie Anderson, President of the E.B.A. This continued until she met and married William Edward Hinton, January 30, 1948. From this union nine children were born; Jeanette, Grayling (Deceased), Bradley, Kevin, Timothy (Deceased), Kimberly, Tracey, Leslie, John, Darren and Dwayne. During this period Mother Hinton focused on the rearing of her children. Mother Hinton's children and grandchildren lovingly referred to her as "Nora". Furthermore Mother Hinton's first love was the church and as her children got older she returned working in the church cooking and ushering. Mother Hinton ventured out attending usher anniversaries with Sister McAllister riding the subways at times to make the usher events. Mother Hinton continued serving in the church until her health began to fail. In her final years of life, Mother Eleanora Hinton looked forward to her church family coming and giving her communion each first Sunday of the Month. The family acknowledges and thanks Deacon Haywood Johnson, Deaconess Beulah Enoch, Deaconess Mary Washington, Deaconess Mary Johnson, Deaconess CeCe and Deacon Leonard Hamilton, Missionary Deidre Washington, Missionary Angela Howell, and Junior Missionary Chyree Counts. May God Continue to bless you all. Mother Hinton's two loving sisters Susie Stallings and Mary Figgs predeceased her. She leaves behind four sister-in-laws: Sadie Wiggins of Sunbury, NC, Vera Smith of Cambridge Heights, NY, Delsie Hofler of Jacksonville, Fl., and Paulette Hinton of Virginia.
