I want to take a moment to express my gratitude and thanks to the Father of us all for the life of my uncle Eugene Ulmer. We’re all provided with gifts and we’re called on to be effective stewards of the gifts we receive. My uncle was blessed with the gift of fashion and dress and I was blessed to receive some of this knowledge from him.
He was blessed to be able to show me how to create visual flavors through style. How to choose fabric, how to determine proper fit, how to combine colors. He was blessed with the capability of showing me how clothing transforms the body into a work of art.
Clean, sharp, dap…Uncle Gene was often imitated but never duplicated.
As I wrote these words, it came to me that through the art of fashion and dress we glorify our Father. We have been given a body that is transformed as it is clothed. We are lifted up for others to see. God’s brilliance is reflected in our appearance.
Most important, it came to me that we must clothe ourselves with the robe of salvation woven and fashioned by our Messiah so as promised the Father will know who we are. So let us ask the question, “What am I wearing ?” “What am I wearing ?” “What am I wearing?”
Thank you Uncle Gene for what the Father has enable me to see through you.
