Obituary of Alfred C Williams

Please share a memory of Alfred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alfred Charles Williams was born, December 8, 1945 in Washington, D.C. to loving Parents Mr. Joseph & Mrs. Eunice Williams. After the death of his Father their Family relocated to the State of Virginia, to be surrounded by greater Family support. It was in the State of Virginia, where Alfred received His formal education. Alfred came to have His first introduction & relationship with Christ Jesus through the biblical teachings as a young member at the Beulah Baptist Church in Virginia. Later in life, Alfred as a young man relocated to Roosevelt, New York with the encouragement of His older Sister Dr. Frances W. Mackey and her then Husband, the Late Rev. Dr. Arthur L. Mackey Sr., who would serve as Alfred’s Pastor & Spiritual Leader. Alfred continued His relationship with Christ through becoming a member & receiving biblical teaching at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and served as a dedicated member of the Male Chorus. Alfred at that time stood faithfully and sang the songs of Zion alongside His big Brother-Mentor & Friend, the Late Trustee Joseph Williams, Jr., known to all as (Gospel Joe) the organizer of the Male Chorus. Alfred was inspired by and loved these two men; they served as the Father figures in His Life and they preceded Him in death. Alfred had an awesome work ethic. A great focus on completing any task that He was called to do. He was hard working, diligent and trustworthy. These are just a few words that would describe Alfred as a worker. Upon relocating to New York He was employment at S. Klein’s Department Store in West Hempstead, New York. As God began to favor Alfred He opened a door of employment and Alfred walked right through and became a Faithful Public Servant with Nassau County until His retirement. In the early 1970's, Alfred met & married his loving wife, Louvenia Heggins, from this union their only child was born; Alfred Charles Williams Jr., who both preceded him in death. Alfred respected His relationship with nature. He enjoyed fishing, riding his bike and spending time with his Family & Friends. Alfred had a great love for gardening and He was really good at it. Through His love for gardening it served as a part of His personal ministry & His time spent with GOD. He would work the soil and plant the seeds and GOD always was faithful to bring forth a great harvest that He would share with others in need. Alfred was a die-hard Redskins Fan. He enjoyed Sports. Alfred believed strongly in Family. He was “famous” for reaching out to his Family on every special occasion. {Birthday’s Anniversary and Every single Holiday) Alfred had a very unique gift of being thoughtful. That’s who He was a thoughtful & kind Man. He made your special occasion His national Holiday and made you feel so very important. Alfred spent the later years of his life with his loving companion Ms. Susie Lattimore, who also preceded him in death. Alfred after an extended period of absence, returned back to His Church home at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cathedral under the dynamic leadership of his Nephew Pastor Arthur L. Mackey Jr. Alfred touched the lives of so many in His silent way of ministry. He was always looking for ways to HELP someone else. If He saw a need and was able to step in and be of assistance, He would be there. Never liking to call it out or draw attention to Him or those he was helping out; But rather just do the work that was needed to be done. May the work I have done speak for me… And well Alfred your work has spoken. You have now taken your rest from your earthly Life until the Lords return. You loved us, blessed us and encouraged us while you were here and we will always remember and continue what you wanted most. To Love one another & enjoy the Life that GOD has blessed us with… Alfred Charles Williams was preceded in death by his oldest brother & mentor, Joseph Freeman Williams Jr, and younger brother James Buckner. Alfred leaves His Family to cherish his memory: His oldest Sister-Dr. Frances W.
