Franklin Antonio Brown was born in Williamston, NC on May 20,1956 to the late Franklin Clay Brown and the late Mary Alice Brown. Tony, as he was affectionately known, left us on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
He was a loving and caring man who placed a great deal of importance on building and maintaining solid relationships with his family and friends. Tony grew up playing all sports, including basketball, stickball, punchball, handball, football, and he excelled in racquetball while playing all over New York City. He also enjoyed swimming, and
dancing.
As a young man, Tony graduated from Automotive High School and then later attended Adelphi University where he earned an Associate’s degree.
He was employed at Kingsborough Psychiatric Center for many years and was a track worker for NYC Transit Authority. He thoroughly enjoyed working as an ambulette driver, while talking to his passengers, uplifting and encouraging them as he transported them to their appointments. He loved driving and talking to people which enabled him to become one of Lyft’s favored drivers.
Tony loved The Lord and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. He was led to Christ by his sister Carolyn Aird. His walk with Christ included being a part of Word of Life Ministries under the leadership of Pastors Gaspar and Michelle Anastasi for 18 years. Tony attended their Bible College and while there received a Discipleship Diploma. He served in every capacity in the help’s ministry, street ministry, evangelism ministry, as well as the food
& clothing ministry. He was a Big Brother and mentor to the youth. Until his sudden passing, Tony was under the leadership of Senior Pastor Quan Thomas of Remnant Ministries, as Deacon/Security.
