I was one of his online friends. We are all shaken and devastated by this loss. During one of our last conversations, I told him that he was like a brother to me. I meant it and still do.
Bakari was one of the kindest and wisest souls I've ever had the pleasure to know. He always had an answer, and if he didn't then he knew how to cheer people up. He was the kind of guy that could light up a room by simply just walking into it.
Your light was extinguished too soon, my friend. I wish we could have started that podcast, or gone to coachella, or that you could've come and visited my uni and watched me graduate like we talked about. He taught me a lot, and helped me through a lot in the 4-5 years we've known each other. I wish we had more time, truthfully, I do. But in all honesty, I'm grateful that I even got the opportunity to know such a wonderful person in the first place.
I'll miss you. We all will.

I was one of Bakari’s online friends who got to know what a privilege it was to know such a warm and loving person in their lives. Bakari helped me through one of the toughest times in my life by just being there, he was always there to listen and told me many times just how much he cared and that I’m loved. I look back upon those messages with such fondness and gratitude both then and now. I truly do not how I would be without his support. Something I always noticed was how proudly and deeply he loved the people he interacted with. He cared loud and proud which I look upon with admiration. He was the one who encouraged me and my boyfriend to get together as we are both online friends of his, which was four beautiful years ago now. We both reminisce fondly how he impacted us and wanted us to be together. We both hold him in our hearts back then and now.
Thank you for being a friend for many years Zote. I’m beyond grateful I got to know you and your warm and one of a kind presence. May you rest easy. I will never forget the love you showed me when I needed it most and will always cherish it. Until we meet again my friend.

I knew Bakari through an amazing community of people, many of whom were brought together by Bakari himself. His passionate and charming soul was irresistible to those looking for connection. His care was great and his kindness greater.
Rest in peace, Zote.

I met Bakari online and we both known each other for a long time growing up through our adulthoods together. What made him very unique as a person is how much self-confidence he had. He knew what was right and always spoke from an honest open mind. There were times in my early life where I was at my low, however Bakari was always there to lift up my spirits. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have imagine where I'd end up. I'm grateful for crossing paths and being your friend.
Rest well in peace, Zote.

Q: What will you never forget about Bakari A.?
A: I will always remember how generous he was for everyone who came to him for help. Numerous times there were people he would provide support for, and if he could not do so directly, he would always find a friend to further the reach of his helping hand.

I was one of his online friends of almost 5 years. He was such a radiant person with witty humor. He didn't care if somebody disliked him, he was always unapologetic with who he was and was not afraid to voice his opinion. He was gentle, caring and his presence will be greatly missed. Grim will always love and care for you, rest in peace Kari.

Bakari’s presence was the kind that softened a room the moment he stepped into it; a quiet warmth, a light carried in his smile that made people feel seen and welcome. Though his years were far too few, the kindness he gave was abundant, offered freely in small gestures that meant everything.
He had a way of turning ordinary moments into something brighter. At the game tables, surrounded by friends, laughter seemed to follow him, as if joy recognized one of its own. He loved the simple magic of shared time the shuffle of cards, the clatter of dice, the easy rhythm of conversation and in those spaces he was part of a community that will forever carry his imprint.
Bakari was generous not only with his time, but with who he was: patient, gentle, and openhearted. He showed me that friendship is not measured in grand acts, but in steady presence, in listening, in choosing kindness again and again.
Though the world feels dimmer without his light, it is not gone. It lives on in every story told with a smile, in every game played in his memory, and in every act of compassion inspired by the way he moved through life.
To have known Bakari was to be reminded that even a brief life can be a radiant one and that love, once given, does not fade.
