Gloria Hester Clark, born July 22, 1930, passed away on October 31, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering strength. She was preceded in death by her four children: William Taylor II, Warren Taylor, Deborah Taylor, and Wayne Taylor, and his beloved wife Willeatha.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Isaac Clark, who traveled the world with Gloria and cherished every moment they shared. Her loving daughters-in-law are Rosalyn Payne, Jean Taylor, and Sheila Taylor. Her grandchildren — William Taylor III (Adrienne) Walter Taylor (Marsha), Wayne Taylor, Wesley Taylor, Gloria Taylor Jackson, Akeel Taylor, Jermaine Taylor (Melissa), Leon Taylor (Marlene), Antoyne Taylor (Quiana), and Willeatha Labate (Jason) — brightened her days with their visits, calls, and the pride she felt for each of them. Countless great- and great-great-grandchildren carry forward her generous spirit and generous heart.
Gloria’s life was defined by a warm, lifelong love of learning. She pursued coursework at Stony Brook University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute until she could no longer attend in person, always curious, always growing. As a longtime member of the Red Hat Society, she joyfully served as their queen, bringing joy, humor, and a sense of community to those around her. Her devotion to family and her compassionate, steadfast nature made her a beacon of strength to all who knew her.
Professionally, Gloria served as a registered nurse, tending to others with gentleness and grace, and she imparted enduring values in education, guiding generations with wisdom and patience. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched — through the comfort she offered, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared so freely.
May Gloria Hester Clark rest peacefully, wrapped in the warmth of a life well lived and in the memories of all who were privileged to know her.
