James Patrick Daniel, the third child of William Benjamin and
Mary Grace Daniel, was born on April 17, 1935, on the island of
Montserrat, British West Indies. He received his early education
at St. Mary’s School and attended St. Anthony’s Anglican
Church.
In the early 1950s, James migrated to England and later to the
United States, residing in Long Island where he met his loving
wife, Rosa.
James was a devoted member of Jackson Memorial AME Zion
Church and served faithfully in the Men’s Choir for many years.
He was known for his sharp mind and clever advice on endless
topics as he was an avid reader of Newsday and listened to Radio
Montserrat regularly. He enjoyed gardening, maintaining his
lawn and spending time with his family and friends.
James leaves to celebrate his life: his wife, Rosa; his children,
Bernard, Nigel (wife Kimberly), Jacqueline, Patricia, and Michael
(wife Michelle); his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.
James also leaves behind his siblings, Ellen, William, Rebecca,
Mary, and Elizabeth; 7 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and his buddy, Max.
And special thanks to his caretaker, Louis.
James fought a good fight.
May he rest in peace.
