Garfield Evans Lewis was born in Kingston, Jamaica WI, on July 31, 1935, to Oscar Lewis and Christiana Noble. Garfield had 7 siblings: 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He departed this world on April 17, 2025, in St. Charles Hospital, Port Jefferson, NY.
Garfield accepted Christ into his life many decades ago. He joined Gospel Lighthouse Assembly in Roosevelt, NY. He played the congas at the church and continued his spiritual growth to be an example for us. While in Jamaica, Garfield was a shoe manufacturer and owned a shoe store. He migrated to the USA in 1989 and worked as a home health aide.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories five sons: Donovan Lewis, Kirk Lewis, Rallin Lewis, Michael Lewis, and Wayne Lewis; three daughters: Sharon Lewis, Charmaine Lewis, and Sophia Lewis; seven siblings ; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; lots of nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, spiritual sons, daughters, and friends.
Our Father, who art in heaven, wanted Garfield Lewis in heaven with Him, so he is there making everyone laugh like he did here. He will always be remembered for being loving, kind, peaceful, and having a big impact on everyone who met him. He will always be in our hearts for the good deeds he has done.
God didn’t promise joy without sorrow, peace without pain, and rain without sunshine. God has promised: Salvation through Jesus Christ. Forgiveness for all who confess and repent their sins. Eternal life for all who believe in Him.
Father,
We love you always
