On October 29, 1935, Delois B. Joyner was born to the late Johnnie and Lillie Mae Joyner in Martin County North Carolina. Delois transitioned this life to the eternal on October 22, 2016 at 2:30pm in the comfort of her home. Seeking to provide a better life for their family, Johnnie and Lille Mae moved to Norfolk, VA. There, Delois received her early childhood education at Law Carrie Elementary school and then graduated from Booker T. Washington High school. While in Norfolk, VA, Delois was blessed with the birth of her first child David Joyner. In 1959, a young and daring girl moved from Norfolk to Hempstead New York. There she was blessed with the birth of her second son Kevin K. Joyner. A few years later, Nana has she become known to the entire neighborhood started working at the Holiday Inn Hotel, supervising the house keeping department. Eventually she grew tired of that and found an unconditional love for children. Words cannot explain, the love and affection Nana had for the Hempstead Heights Community and the affection the community had for her. Nana was and will always be the Matriarch of the Hempstead Heights. Her love, laugh and smile will truly be missed. Delois B. Joyner leaves to mourn the love and memories of her two sons(David and Kevin K. Joyner) 14 siblings who proceeded her death and 2 living siblings(Lillie Joyner Henderson of Baltimore, Maryland and Jessie Hardy of Hempstead, New York) 5 Grandchildren(Dameon Joyner Sr.(Keisha) Thaddius Parker, Kevin R.C. Joyner, Ponakah Mouzon, Kadasia Baily. 5 Great Grandchildren, Dameon Joyner Jr.,Zala Johnson-Rice, Kayden Parker, Dejah Joyner(Who proceeded her death) and Cameron Parker and her Niece and best friend who proceeded her death Malinda Sawyer. And a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and her extended family of the Hempstead Heights Community.
